Natural Gemstones for Everyone

Topaz Collection

99% of the blue topaz available in the market is processed by irradiation, as natural blue topaz is very rare.

At LifeGem Diamonds Limited, we buy rough stones of white topaz from Nigeria and Brazil, and slice them for removing the inclusions. The sliced topaz is cut into required sizes & pre-formed. The pre-formed white topaz is sent to the Nuclear reactor facility, where they are irradiated using gamma or neutron rays. After irradiation, the topaz is aged from 1-2 months (for gamma treatment) to 1-2 years (for neutron treatment) to bring down the residual radiation, if any, to the safe level of 20 Bg/gram. As per the regulations by NRC, the irradiated blue topaz should be kept in a special storage facility by the irradiator, until its radiation level reaches to the acceptable limit.

After gamma irradiation, white topaz will convert into sky blue and swiss blue colours, and neutron beam irradiation into London blue colour. The semi- finished topaz is received back and re-processed by calibration, girdle polishing, faceting and final polishing.

Blue topaz goes very well with silver, gold, platinum and diamond jewellery and highly in demand. The global demand for blue topaz is estimated as 10,000 kgs per year, which is a billion dollar business. Only a few companies in the world can do high-quality topaz irradiation.

London Blue

London Blue Topaz displays a rich, inky blue shade produced via neutron beam irradiation. This process, followed by careful aging and polishing, results in a gemstone prized for its depth and sophistication. Perfect for high-end and statement jewelry.

Swiss Blue

Swiss Blue Topaz is known for its vivid, electric blue hue. Achieved through controlled gamma irradiation, it offers a striking color intensity. Our expertise ensures each gem meets high standards of clarity and finish, ideal for fine jewelry.

Sky Blue

Sky Blue Topaz is created by gamma irradiation of white topaz, resulting in a soft, airy blue tone. At LifeGem Diamonds Limited, we source high-quality white topaz and process it under strict safety and calibration standards to ensure purity.

Ruby & Star Ruby

At LifeGem Diamonds Limited, we offer high-quality rubies and star rubies that are natural, unheated, and untreated. Rubies, a variety of corundum, range from pink to deep blood-red, with the prized “blood-red” shade commanding premium value. Most natural rubies contain rutile needle inclusions known as “silk,” which confirm their authenticity, as 95% of rubies worldwide are treated—typically with heat at around 1,800°C—to enhance color and reduce imperfections. We do not deal in rubies treated with lead-glass filling, an unethical practice that alters the gem’s composition and clarity over time. With a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, our rubies are available in faceted and cabochon cuts, each certified by external labs like IGI. We also offer star rubies—cabochon-cut gems that display a six-rayed star effect (asterism) under direct light. These are available in rich purplish-red shades and come in round or oval shapes ranging from 5 mm to 15 mm.
